Both Drivers involved in a morning crash were injured – with one of them cited for causing the collision. Just before 8AM Thursday – Darke County Deputies, along with New Madison Fire, Tri-Village Rescue and Arcanum Rescue were dispatched to the intersection of US Route 127 and State Route 503 on the report of a two vehicle injury accident.
Preliminary investigation revealed a 2021 Jeep Renegade, driven by 75-year-old Mary Wood of Greenville was stopped westbound on State Route 503 at the posted stop sign. Wood failed to yield the right-of-way to a southbound 2002 Buick CX, driven by 67-year-old Holly Daughtery of Greenville. Both vehicles collided with the jeep coming to rest on the roadway, and the Buick traveled off the right side of the roadway coming to a rest in the ditch.
Wood and Daughtery were both transported to Wayne HealthCare with minor injuries.
Wood was issued a citation for failure to yield after a clearly marked stop sign.
