On March 19, 2025 at approximately 9:30p.m. Darke County Sheriff’s Deputies along with Greenville Township Fire and Rescue, Greenville City Fire, Arcanum Rescue, and Miami Valley MICU responded to the intersection of State Route 49 and U.S. Route 127 in reference to a two vehicle accident with injury.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a Dark Green 2005 Ford F-150, driven by 59-year-old Douglas James of Greenville, was traveling Southeast on State Route 49. A Gray 2016 Kia Rio, driven by 19-year-old Kailynn Johnson of Centerville, Ohio, was entering State Route 49 from U.S Route 127. Ms. Johnson failed to yield the right of way, and was struck by Mr. James.
Ms. Johnson and her passenger, 19-year-old Kiera Kinnison-Mcnutt of Greenville, were transported to Miami Valley Hospital to be treated for minor injuries. Mr. James was transported to Wayne Hospital to be treated for minor injuries as well.
This accident remains under investigation.
