FROM THE ANSONIA POLICE DEPARTMENT FACEBOOK PAGE:
The Village of Ansonia has enacted an ordinance mandating that all solicitors obtain a temporary solicitor permit before conducting door-to-door solicitation. A fee must be paid to the village to secure this permit. Solicitors who fail to acquire and pay for these permits are committing theft. Moving forward, individuals soliciting without a valid temporary permit issued by the Ansonia Police Department will face criminal charges and may be arrested for theft, in violation of Ohio Revised Code 2913.02, classified as a first-degree misdemeanor. For any questions about this matter or the process of legally obtaining a temporary solicitor permit, please contact the Ansonia Police Department at 937-337-7191.
