The Richmond Municipal Airport in eastern Indiana announces it has been awarded one-point-four million dollars from a federal program this Wednesday.
The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) Airport Terminal Program (ATP) will support infrastructure, economic development, emergency services and aviation education throughout east central Indiana.
The money will be used to make major terminal / facility improvements to improve safety, accessibility and the general passenger experience.
“This award represents a major step forward for Richmond Municipal Airport and our community,” said Mayor Ron Oler. “The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law continues to deliver meaningful investments in local infrastructure, and this funding will help ensure our airport can better serve residents, businesses, and visitors for years to come.”
The airport said it was grateful to everyone, including federal, state and local partners, who helped secure the competitive grant award. It will share further details on project timelines and implementation as they are developed.
