To the DCAS Board of Directors,
As of today, I am resigning from my position effective immediately.
When I accepted this role, I was genuinely excited to be involved and contribute to
something meaningful for the community. I saw this as an opportunity to bring fresh
energy, stability, and leadership to an organization that represents so much history and
pride in Darke County. I came in ready to work hard, collaborate, and help steer the fair into
a stronger future.
Unfortunately, what I walked into was not what was presented. The role was
misrepresented from the start and continues to operate without structure, communication,
or accountability. I was led to believe this would be a transitional role, with the current Fair
Manager staying on as Office Manager to support the process. It has become clear that was
never going to be the case.
I have been left to manage critical operations with little support, no plan, and no
direction—while also being expected to assume financial and legal responsibilities I do not
trust, agree to, or feel comfortable taking on.
In just a few weeks, I have witnessed decisions being made that should have been carefully
considered, not rushed. The actions of this board speak volumes to me about the reactive
and unstable environment that exists within the organization.
The responsibility for the current state of the fair lies with those who have allowed this
situation to continue for years. That burden does not belong to me.
This is not how a business should be run. This is not leadership. And I will not allow my
name or reputation to be tied to the dysfunction I’ve witnessed over the last three weeks.
I am walking away with a clear conscience. I still believe in this community, and I hope the
DCAS organization finds its footing—but I will not be a part of it.
Sincerely,
Keith Ludwick
