On September 15, 2026, at approximately 5:32pm, Laura Fire, Arcanum Rescue and Darke County Deputies were dispatched to the intersection of STRT 571 and Delisle Fourman Road, Darke County, Ohio in reference to an injury accident.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a Silver Jeep being driven by Daniel James (76) of Springfield, Ohio along with his passenger, Clara Reichard (81) of Vandalia, Ohio were traveling westbound bound on STRT 571 and started to slow down to prepare to turn right onto Delisle Fourman Road when a Silver Chevy Traverse being driven by Belle Hess (29) of Greenville, Ohio rear-ended Daniel and his passenger. At this time, the Jeep rolled over to its side and struck a Black Hyundai being driven by Austin Higbee (33) of Troy, Ohio while he was at the intersection of Delisle Fourman Road and STRT 571.
Both Daniel and Clara were transported to Wayne Health Care for suspected minor injuries while Belle was treated at the scene. Austin was not injured.
This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
