Ohio’s minimum wage will increase at the beginning of 2027.
Starting on Jan. 1, 2027, the minimum hourly wage amount for non-tipped workers is increasing from $11 to $11.40.
Tipped workers will receive $5.70 per hour, up from the 2026 amount of $5.50 per hour.
The increase is caused by a Constitutional Amendment approved by voters in November 2006, which allows the minimum wage to increase annually on Jan. 1 by the inflation rate.
The rate will be effective for workers at businesses with annual gross receipts of over $420,000, up from the current $405,000 threshold.
Employees who are either at businesses with annual gross receipts of $420,000 or less per year after Jan. 1, 2027, or 14 and 15-year-old, the federal minimum wage is set at $7.25 per hour. A change to the federal rate would require a Congressional act and the President’s signature.
