On June 19, 2026, at approximately 11:22 p.m., officers from the Greenville Police Department were
dispatched to a parking lot in the 1400 block of Wagner Avenue in reference to multiple vehicles driving
recklessly. The complainant reported that one of the vehicles nearly struck them.
Upon arrival, officers observed a silver two-door Toyota operating recklessly in the parking lot. When
an officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the vehicle fled northbound out of the city.
The vehicle eventually stopped on a county road just east of the Village of Ansonia. At that time, the
three occupants of the vehicle fled on foot into a nearby cornfield. With assistance from the Darke County
Sheriff’s Office, Ansonia Police Department, and Versailles Police Department, two of the three individuals
were located and taken into custody.
Those apprehended include Alexander Luna-Mendoza, 19, of New Carlisle, Ohio, and a 17-year-old
juvenile from Darke County. The suspected operator of the vehicle remains at large, identified as Mario Barron
Acosta, 19-year-old of Versailles, Ohio. Anyone with information regarding this individual’s whereabouts is
urged to contact law enforcement.
The Greenville Police Department will continue to respond to reports of reckless driving and will take
appropriate enforcement action against those who endanger the public. Reckless operation of vehicles in
parking lots creates a significant risk of physical harm and will not be tolerated within the City of Greenville.
The Greenville Police Department thanks all agencies involved for their assistance in the incident.
