Dog owners in the City of Greenville continue to be concerned about the safety of their pets. Greenville Police posted this update on Facebook Tuesday…
On June 29, the Greenville Police Department responded to a call for service regarding an animal complaint. Investigation revealed that an unrestrained canine attacked a smaller dog that was being walked by its owner. Regrettably, the smaller dog sustained fatal injuries as a result of the incident.
The Greenville Police Department is actively investigating this matter in close coordination with the Darke County Dog Warden.
At this time, authorities do not believe there is an ongoing threat to public safety. There have been no reported or confirmed sightings of the unrestrained canine within the past seven days.
The Greenville Police Department reminds the public of the importance of community safety and local leash ordinances. Residents are urged to immediately report any loose animals, or owners failing to properly restrain their pets outside of their private property, by contacting the department’s non-emergency line at (937) 548-1103.
