Dayton Post investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash
involving a motorcycle in Preble County

ENGLEWOOD – On Saturday, July 4, at approximately 4:16 p.m., troopers from the
Dayton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle serious injury
crash involving a motorcycle. The crash occurred on state Route 726 near mile marker 3 in
Washington Township, Preble County.
The preliminary investigation revealed a 2003 Honda Silverwing motorcycle, operated by
Douglas Miller, 39, Gettysburg, was traveling north on state Route 726. The Honda lost
control and traveled off the right side of the roadway. It then struck a ditch and utility
pole.
Miller was transported by ground ambulance to Reid Health in Richmond, Indiana with
serious life-threatening. Later that evening, Miller succumbed to fatal injuries from the
crash.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Preble County Sheriff’s
Office, Eaton Fire & EMS Division, Montogomery County Coroner’s Office, and Logan’s
Auto & Towing.
The crash remains under investigation by the Dayton Post.
