Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash, Clayton, Ohio

Englewood -On Friday, April 17, 2026, at 3:48 p.m., the Ohio State Highway Patrol,
Dayton Patrol Post was dispatched to a fatal vehicle crash that occurred at the intersection
of Hoke Road, and Westbrook Road in the City of Clayton, Montgomery County.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2023 Hyundai Elantra, operated by John Huston,
age 83, Trotwood, Ohio, was traveling south on Hoke Road. Huston failed to yield the
right of way at the intersection and was struck by a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado, operated by
Cody Ritter, age 39, Greenville, Ohio who was traveling westbound on Westbrook Road.


As a result of the crash, the passenger in the 2023 Hyundai, Joya Hill, age 79, Trotwood
Ohio, was transported by Clayton Fire Department to Miami Valley Hospital, where she
was later pronounced deceased. Huston was transported to Miami Valley Hospital with
serious life-threatening injuries. Ritter was transported by Englewood Fire Department to
Miami Valley North with non-life-threatening injuries. A passenger in the 2013 Chevrolet
was also transported to Miami Valley Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by Clayton Police Department,
Englewood Police Department, Clayton Fire Department, Englewood Fire Department,
Trotwood Fire Department, Sandys Towing, and Parkers Towing.


This crash remains under investigation. Next of Kin has been notified.
