A Darke County man is recovering in a Dayton area hospital following a head on collision with a semi Thursday morning.  According to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office – around 10:05am yesterday – Deputies along with Versailles Police, Ansonia Rescue, Versailles Fire and Rescue responded to the intersection of State Route 47 and Conover Road in reference to a two vehicle injury accident.   

Preliminary investigation revealed a 2010 Ford F-150, driven by 47-year-old Christopher Magoto of Versailles was westbound on State Route 47 trying to make a left turn onto Conover Road.  Magoto failed to yield traveling into the path of an eastbound 2021 Peterbilt semi, driven by 29-year-old Anthony Cornett of Saint Marys, OH.  Both vehicles collided in the intersection, causing the Peterbilt to travel off the right side of the roadway, coming to rest in a field.  Magoto’s vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway coming to rest in the ditch.   

Magoto was transported to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight with non-life-threatening injuries.  Cornett was treated and released from the scene.  

This accident remain under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
