Alcohol is believed to be a factor in an accident involving a Brookville man, over the weekend. Just after 5:30 Saturday morning, Darke County Deputies along with Arcanum Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the 200 block of State Route 503 on the report of a single vehicle injury accident.
Preliminary investigation revealed a black 2023 GMC truck, driven by 33-year-old Paul Speer of Brookville, Ohio was traveling southbound on State Route 503 when he traveled left of the centerline and off the left side of the roadway striking a tree head-on.
CareFlight was requested at the scene but could not fly due to weather conditions. Arcanum Rescue transported Speer to Miami Valley Hospital for further evaluation. Speer is in stable condition at this time.
This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
