An adult and child were injured in a UTV accident over the weekend. Just before 2:55pm Sunday, Darke County deputies, along with the Versailles Police Department, Versailles Fire Department, and Ansonia Rescue, responded to the 11,500 block of State Route 185 on the report of a rollover injury accident.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a camouflage-colored Polaris UTV, driven by 12-year-old Tucker J. Whittaker of Versailles, Ohio, was traveling eastbound on State Route 185 when the driver lost control, causing the UTV to overturn on the roadway.
Tucker J. Whittaker was ejected from the UTV, while his passenger, 52-year-old Stephen J. Whittaker of Versailles, remained inside the vehicle. Stephen J. Whittaker was able to remove himself from the UTV before emergency personnel arrived.
Stephen J. Whittaker was treated and released from the scene. Tucker J. Whittaker was transported to Dayton Children’s Hospital by Ansonia Rescue for his injuries.
This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
