A local man was cited following an injury accident early Friday afternoon. Just after 12:30pm on August 21 – Darke County Deputies along with Union City Fire, Union City Rescue and Ansonia Rescue were dispatched to the 800 block of Beamsville-Union City Road in reference to a single vehicle injury accident.
Preliminary investigation revealed a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by 25-year-old Noah Cozart of Union City, Ohio was traveling westbound on Beamsville-Union City Road when he drove through high water on the roadway. Cozart’s vehicle hydroplaned on high water causing him to lose control. Cozart’svehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway and into the ditch. Cozart’s vehicle rolled multiple times while striking a fence and coming to rest in a field.
Cozart and his passenger, 19-year-old Jayden Hampton of Greenville, were transported to Wayne HealthCare with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Darke County Highway Department had High Water signs in place to warn motorist of the road hazard.
Cozart was issued a citation for failure to maintain reasonable control of a motor vehicle.
