Multiple people were injured and taken to a nearby hospital – following a head on crash between a car and semi late Monday afternoon. Around 4:05 p.m. Monday – Darke County Sheriff’s Office along with Arcanum Police, Arcanum Fire and Rescue, Pitsburg Fire, Greenville Township Rescue, North Central Rescue, CareFlight and MedFlight, responded to the area of State Route 49 and Gordon Landis Road for a multi vehicle crash with injuries.
Preliminary investigation revealed a blue Dodge Challenger driven by 63-year-old Marie Pintar of Dayton, was traveling northwest on State Route 49 and drove left-of-center for an unknown reason, colliding with a southeast semi-trailer of a white Freightliner driven by 33-yeaer-old Sukhdeep Singh of Greenwood, IN. The Dodge Challenger then struck head-on into a maroon Honda CRV, driven by 33-year-old Sentio Normil of Springfield, OH. Two of the semi-trailer tires came off the trailer and one of the tires struck a white GMC Savana work van head-on which was traveling northwest, driven by 56-year-old Galvin Strait of Greenville.
The driver of the semi and van were uninjured. Two of the adult passengers of the Honda CRV were transported to Miami Valley Hospital aboard CareFlight and MedFlight, and the other three adult passengers of this vehicle were transported to Wayne HealthCare. The driver of the Dodge Challenger was also flown to Miami Valley Hospital aboard CareFlight.
The Darke County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction and the Ohio State Highway Patrol Motor Carrier Enforcement also assisted with the investigation. This crash remains under investigation.
