On July 6, 2025, two adult males were injured while preparing for the City of Greenville’s
annual fireworks show, which was scheduled to begin at approximately 10:00 p.m. on the same
date.
One individual was transported to Wayne HealthCare for treatment, while the other was
airlifted via CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital for further medical care.
The incident is currently under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office, with support
from the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
Due to the seriousness of the event and out of an abundance of caution, city officials and the
fireworks team have made the decision to cancel this year’s fireworks display. However, the
festivities will continue at the fairgrounds, where food trucks and vendors will remain open to
the public beginning at 5:00 p.m.
All media inquiries related to the investigation should be directed to the State Fire Marshal’s
