A Darke County resident was flown to a Dayton hospital following a crash near Versailles Wednesday afternoon. Around 3:20 p.m. yesterday – Darke County Deputies along with Versailles Fire and Rescue, Ansonia Rescue responded to a two-vehicle injury crash at the intersection of State Route 121 and Conover Road.
Preliminary investigation revealed a white 2021 Ford Transit Ambulance driven by 41-year-old Elisha Milby of Greenville, was traveling westbound on State Route 121 with emergency lights and siren when he attempted to pass two westbound vehicles which included a dump truck and then collided with a silver 2017 Ford Escape driven by 46-year-old Brandy Shappie of Yorkshire, who was in front of the dump truck attempting to make a left turn onto Conover Road.
The driver of the ambulance was treated and released from the scene while the front seat passenger,32-year-old Daniel Hittle of Greenville ( an employee), was transported to WayneHealth for his injuries. The driver of the Ford Escape was transported to the Darke County Airport where she was then transported to Miami Valley Hospital aboard CareFlight for her injuries.
This crash remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
