A TRADITION THAT THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE HAVE ENJOYED THE THIRD WEEKEND IN SEPTEMBER EVERY YEAR FOR THE PAST HALF CENTURY IN WESTERN OHIO – WILL NOT TAKE PLACE THIS YEAR – AND ITS FUTURE IS UNCERTAIN.  KIM FIELDS – EXHIBITOR CHAIR FOR THE PREBLE COUNTY PORK FESTIVAL POSTED A LETTER ON THE EVENTS WEBSITE THAT WAS SENT TO EXHIBITORS WHO WERE SCHEDULED TO BE A PART OF THIS YEAR’S EVENT – EXPLAINING THAT THE FESTIVAL BOARD OF DIRECTORS MADE THE INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT DECISION TO SUSPEND THE PREBLE COUNTY PORK FESTIVAL FOR 2022.  THE LETTER STATES IN PART THAT THE CONTINUING RISE IN COST OF PRODUCTS HAS MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO MAINTAIN THEIR AGING EQUIPMENT AND CONTINUE THE FESTIVAL – HELD ON THE PREBLE COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS – IN A TRADITIONAL FASHION.  FIELDS ALSO SAYS THE LACK OF VOLUNTEERS, START UP AND OVERHEAD COSTS ALSO WERE FACTORS IN THE DECISION TO SCRAP THIS YEAR’S EVENT.  THE FESTIVAL BOARD OF DIRECTORS WILL CONTINUE TO DISCUSS THE FUTURE OF THE PREBLE COUNTY PORK FESTIVAL.
