FACED WITH AN UNPRECEDENTED SITUATION – THE GREENVILLE CITY COUNCIL WILL RESUME THEIR FIRST PUBLIC MEETING IN THE MONTH OF MAY – TUESDAY, MAY 14 AT 7:30PM.  THE REGULARLY SCHEDULED MEETING TUESDAY EVENING WAS SUSPENDED WHEN A TORNADO WARNING WAS ISSUED FOR GREENVILLE AND DARKE COUNTY.  COUNCIL MEMBERS AND THE AUDIENCE TOOK SHELTER IN THE BASEMENT OF THE CITY BUILDING. WHILE THEY WERE DOWN THERE, MOST OF THE CITY HAD LOST POWER, AND THERE WERE NUMEROUS REPORTS COMING IN THAT THERE WERE AREAS OF GREENVILLE THAT HAD SUSTAINED MAJOR DAMAGE DURING THE STORM, INCLUDING TREES AND POWER LINES DOWN ACROSS SEVERAL ROADS IN THE CITY.  IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE COUNCIL WOULD HAVE TO REMAIN “IN RECESS” AND RESUME THE PUBLIC MEETING AT A LATER TIME.  NOTICE WAS GIVEN TO WTGR AND OTHER LOCAL MEDIA THAT THE GREENVILLE CITY COUNCIL MEETING WILL NOW RESUME AT 7:30 TUESDAY UEVENING IN CHAMBERS INSIDE THE CITY BUILDING.  THERE ARE A NUMBER OF RESOLUTIONS TO CONSIDER, ALONG WITH NEW AND OLD BUSINESS, AS WELL AS OTHER AGENDA ITEMS.
