Funding has just been approved to rehabilitate a Darke County train track.

The Ohio Rail Development Commission announced a one-point-two million grant for RJ Corman Railroad to refurbish a rail line in Greenville and north in Van Wert County. Spanning between Greenville and a CSX interchange in Ansonia, eight of the 12 mile line will see updates.

Work funded by the grant is expected to include ballast distribution, tie replacement and surfacing in Darke County.

“By improving the rail infrastructure, we are not only positively leveraging railroad investment but also improving lines that are needed to continue to serve the customers who depend on it,” said Matthew Dietrich, executive director of ORDC. “This project is an excellent example of positive economic impacts while also enhancing safety.”
