A local teen was seriously injured in a two vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon. Around 3:20 p.m. Darke County Deputies along with Versailles Police, Fire and Rescue and CareFlight responded to the intersection of State Route 47 and Conover Road for an injury crash involving a semi and a car.
Preliminary investigation revealed a 2006 black Pontiac G6 driven by 16-year-old Brooke Bergman of New Weston was traveling northbound on Conover Road and stopped at the intersection of State Route 47. Bergman then pulled out into the intersection and was struck broadside by a 2019 red Kenworth tractor-trailer, which was traveling eastbound on State Route 47, driven by 45-year-old Robert Rodrigues of Versailles. Bergman was mechanically extricated from her vehicle and was flown to Miami Valley Hospital aboard CareFlight with serious injuries. The semi driver was uninjured.
The Darke County Sheriff’s Office accident reconstruction team and Ohio State Highway Patrol Motor Carrier Enforcement also assisted with the investigation.
